Museum Founder
Ken Black was a decorated Coastguardsman and later became one of the leading lighthouse preservationists in the United States. He was affectionately known as "Mr. Lighthouse" and was responsible for saving a remarkable collection of lighthouse artifacts. Mission Statement
The mission of the Maine Lighthouse Museum is to educate the public regarding the longstanding traditions, heroism and progress of America’s Lighthouse and Lifesaving services and the United States Coast Guard.
This will be accomplished through the conservation and interpretation of the nation’s most significant collection of lighthouse and lifesaving artifacts.
